I have made 3 Rhapsodys so far, all without ties! I’m not keen on ties so you may wonder why I bought a pattern which has them as a feature. I really liked the shape and the various sleeve options and the fact that some of the versions use very little fabric. I have made 2 with the bias binding continuing across the neckline opening and the 3rd one has a facing finish. However, I do have various fitting issues with all Love Notions patterns, based on the fact that I have quite narrow hips (I believe the ‘block’ used is based on more of a pear shape?) and my hip size is generally 2 sizes smaller than my upper bust. I have a 4″ difference between upper and full bust so have used the full bust bodice piece in the past which adds another 2″ to the hip and waist dimensions, leaving the hem area much too big for me. I have tried grading at the waist and hip but this often leaves me with diagonal lines pointing towards the bust area. Having said all that, the tops are wearable and have been admired. I am going to try using the standard bodice piece in future, making a small FBA if necessary. This is not a big criticism of the patterns, I do love the fact that all Love Notions patterns have such a variety of options, but feel that people with a similar (odd!) shape to mine should be aware. I’m also very happy with the instructions provided, which are very clear. xx
